Shelter for the Homeless
Shelter for the Homeless
At PGRSS, we believe that having a roof over one’s head is the foundation for rebuilding a life with dignity and purpose. Unfortunately, hundreds of people in urban and rural Karnataka are forced to sleep on the streets, in unsafe public spaces, or in temporary arrangements without basic facilities. Through our Shelter for the Homeless initiative, we strive to change that.
Our shelters provide safe, clean, and secure accommodation to the homeless, including the elderly, abandoned individuals, differently-abled persons, daily wage workers, and migrants in distress. But we don’t stop at providing shelter, we focus on holistic support that helps individuals regain control of their lives.
Key Features of Our Shelter Services
- Temporary Housing with proper beds, sanitation, and lighting
- Nutritious Meals served daily to support health and recovery
- Basic Essentials such as clothing, blankets, and hygiene kits
- Healthcare Access through regular check-ups and emergency care in partnership with local hospitals
- Counseling and Rehabilitation support for those dealing with trauma, addiction, or mental health issues
How We Work:
Our outreach teams, in coordination with local municipalities, police departments, and citizen volunteers, conduct street surveys to identify individuals in vulnerable living conditions. Once rescued, they are brought to our shelter homes where they receive immediate care and begin their journey toward reintegration into society.
We also collaborate with district authorities and CSR partners to expand our shelter network and maintain high standards of care and transparency.
Our Impact So Far:
- Rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of homeless individuals
- Assisted many in securing permanent housing or job placements
- Enabled access to welfare schemes and health services for marginalized populations
- Provided dignified end-of-life care for elderly and terminally ill individuals with no family
